Hey! Glad to hear from a Kiwi :). The college experience is very different here in the US- in my opinion it’s more of a departure from high school then Uni in NZ. I had a lot of fun in Auckland and can’t wait to come back and explore more of the country. Come to Pittsburgh and visit there’s lot of fun cities around here!
This makes me so happy! I don’t contribute anything to the blog anymore but I will definitely publish this. I loved New Zealand and will be returning in a few years to explore more. And I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ve been thinking about doing a blog “Adventures in Pittsburgh”. Guess I should get started.
Ten followers later, I have decided to blog. This has been by far the longest hiatus I’ve taken from tumblr and fortunately, much has happened between 7th of March and today, which has given me enough to write about and plenty to share with joy and enthusiasm.
This is going to be one of those…
- University of Pittsburgh
- Penn State University
- Lincoln University
- Temple University
As well as Lock Haven University and all the other PASSHE schools.
Certainly Lockhaven, Slippery Rock, Bloomsburg…
The solution to our problem is to not cut funding. The solution is not form a committee about it. Just wait til 2014, Governor Corbett, PA has a lot of students, and we are aware of what you’re doing.

“A typical itinerary includes Mount Cook, the wild West Coast, swimming with dolphins at Kaikoura, a guided kayak of Abel Tasman National Park, a guided hike on Fox Glacier, a sheep farm visit, a visit to a Maori marae, and a boat cruise on Milford Sound.”
OMG I MIGHT ACTUALLY GO HERE AND IT’S JUST TOO AWESOME AND BEAUTIFUL AND AAAAAHHHHHHAAAAHHH
Cutest Call To Action Ever of the Day: On October 5, the container ship MV Rena ran aground on Astrolabe Reef, resulting in an oil spill that is already being regarded as the worst environmental disaster in New Zealand’s history.
Clean up efforts are underway, but the danger to local wildlife remains high. A raft of Little Blue Penguins has already been negatively impacted by the spill.
The Kiwi yarn store Skeinz has put out a call for penguin sweaters — an adorable-sounding but very necessary accessory that helps keep the birds from preening their feathers and ingesting the oil.
Skeinz has posted knitting instructions for anyone willing to lend a hand.

The Solar Decathlon, hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy, challenges 20 teams from universities to design, build and operate solar-powered houses. These teams work for two years on houses showcased on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
This year for the first time, cost was a key consideration in the competition.
I went to the Solar Decathlon over the weekend. Neat stuff! I really liked the entry from Appalachian State University called The Solar Homestead. It didn’t place highly in the competition, though. —Wright
